It seems I have got a strange battery/power problem with my handset.
Although the battery may be showing 3 or 4 bars (i.e. about half empty),
it suddenly drops all the way down to one bar and eventually it dies,
causing the phone to shut down. Now if this were just my battery, I'd
just go out and buy a new one, but the thing is I have two batteries
with this phone and the problem seems to be occurring with both of them.
Has anyone else experienced this problem with an 8800? If so, is it a
quick visit to my nearest Nokia service centre or something I can do to
make it better?

I'm afraid I've suffered exactly the same problem with mine, I've had
it about 5 months now and the problem has got worse, before you start
a call it can be showing as full, by the end of a 20 minute call it can
be beeping and saying low battery, if you turn it off and on again then
the power seems to magically re-appear from somewhere. This is the main
reason I sold mine on ebay and got a samsung D600, it was definatly
style over functionality.
