D500 phone manager software

Hello,

I have a D600 and this came with phone manager software (Samsung PC studio). My fiancé's young son
recently tried to use this on his D500 but it would not work on that (everything greyed out) is
there an equivalent free piece of software he can use for the D500?

Yes, it comes with the phone and is also available on the samsung
website.

I downloaded this, but it doesn't find my D500 with the serial port
cable. The port option in setup is blank. I tried bluetooth too. Do I
need a USB cable instead?
