Just upgraded my handset to the K800i.

Using old SIM card (so not want to swap as I do not want down time when
swapping SIMs as waiting for an important text)

Just noticed WAP browsing is slow/intermittent
Also, POP3 emails seems to take a lot longer than my old W800i.

The choices I have to connect via (for email) are:

    Orange GPRS WAP
    Orange MMS
    Orange WAP
    Orange GPRS Internet

    1. What method of connecting will be best for collecting my own PO3 emails?
    2. Any idea why it's slow? Would it be better if I swapped SIMs?
    3. If I get Orange to activate new SIM, am I right in thinkng that there may
be downtime where texts will be blackholed?

    (Full signal by the way)

    Thx

These just relate to the standard "data accounts" pre-configured on all
Orange SE-phones, and are generally just different GPRS Access Points (APNs)

GPRS WAP will be using orangewap
Orange MMS will be using orangemms
Orange WAP will be using CSD WAP, so 07973100500 or whatever the number is
    these days.
GPRS Internet will be using orangeinternet

POP3 mail requires full internet access, so orangeinternet will be your
friend. I wouldn't be too surprised of orangewap works, although I think
this was "fixed" a while ago.

All the SIM does is provide or deny you access to the network, it wouldn't
make any difference to the "quality" of access you get. The new phone might
be a different GPRS-class to your old one (and therefore use different
number of timeslots) but I doubt there's any substance in this theory to be
    honest.

The transfer should be seamless - all that's happening is the SIM/IMSI
associated with your MSISDN on the HLR changes - the MSISDN remains active
on the network. However, I suppose if there's an important text you're
waiting for - I would personally wait. Purely "better safe than sorry" I
suppose - 100% sure is safer than 99.99% sure if it's critical :-)

Orange Internet now working, a lot quicker. I guess it was just having a bad
    day or something ;o)

According to Orange, it will give me 3G, which will make GPRS faster ...

    > The transfer should be seamless - all that's happening is the SIM/IMSI

That;s what Orange said, still not text, but going for it. Thought my phone
would blackhole messages for a while, but only a few seconds at the most, so
SIM in process of being transferred

    Thanks for your help

    Orange GPRS Internet

Yes it would improve as you will then be able to use 3G.

No. They won't get blackholed, they will arrive at either SIM as the
changeover is simultaneous. There is a provisioning delay at the moment
so I recommend you ask for a 24 hour delay.
