    Hello,

I do like my shiny new W810i but there are 2 things that are bugging me. I wonder if
someone could shed any light on the following 2 questions?

    Q 1.
I have downloaded five .mp4 video podcasts to my PC from here:
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/4977678.stm
transferred them to the phone location:
    [memory stick drive letter]:\MSSEMC\Media files\video\camera
and tried playing them. They do not work :-(

I have tried playing them from within File Manager and also from the Walkman itself, to no
avail. They work fine on my PC.

On the phone, they show up as diamond icons, which if I'm correct, means that the file is
of an unknown format but according to page 48 of the W810i manual, files with the
extension .mp4 are supported, so why do they not play?

    Q 2.
Page 61 of the manual, says that, "Certain Internet services, such as banking, require
certificates in your phone. Your phone may already contain certificates when you buy it or
    you can download new ones."

I can download certificates to my PC and then transfer to my phone but according to this
    forum thread:
    http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic...01012&start=45
they use Bluetooth to transfer them to the phone. The bottom post mentions the 810 phone.
I assume (possibly wrongly?) it's a similar procedure to transfer via Bluetooth as it is
    with the K750.

I do not have Bluetooth connectivity with my PC. Is there any way to transfer the
certificates via USB cable? If so, into what location do I put the .cer files?

Basically, I want to access my Gmail account (which doesn't work on the phone at the
moment), and in order to try and get it working, apparently, I should install new
    certificates.

O2 e-mail works fine on my phone but that doesn't use encryption on the incoming or
    outgoing mail servers.

If I have to, I'll buy some kind of Bluetooth hardware for my PC but I'd rather use USB
    cable if possible.

Sorry for going on a bit!

    Any help very much welcomed.

    Best wishes,

    Paul.

Oops! Just spotted in that forum thread where to transfer certificate files to, via USB.
I'll give it a bash now and see how I go.

Still need some advice with the .mp4 files, though.

Sorry for replying to my own post!

    Paul.

My name is david and I shake my bananas. Shake my bananas. Shake my bananas.
    My name is...

Any .mp4 files that are above 177x150 (or something like that, can't be
bothered searching at the mo...) in dimensions will be played as audio only.

Thanks for that but they don't even play as audio.

    Paul.

No problem, you love my shexay banana-lap-dancing.

Where are these videos from? I've had mp4's not work at all, play audio
only, or play as they should. I'm guessing there's some criteria that must
be met to do one of the above, but really don't know what.

You could try nokia's video converter to scale the video down on a PC? You
do need to register with nokia to get a serial code, but I've never had them
email me after downloading it 2 years ago.

Instructions above for installing it, getting serial code, and so on.
