Hi,
On my Nokia 6300, network Vodafone UK, when people who are in my address
book call, their name is displayed not their number as you would expect.
The exception is my brother, when he calls I get his number not his
name. However the ID his calls generate is +447968xxxx73 (obviously the
xxx's are real numbers I'm just not posting his number publicly). But in
my phone's address book he's just listed as 07968xxxx73 - I have no idea
why his network sends his number with the international prefix.
If I change his number in my address book to +447968xxxx73 and call it
the call fails.
Any ideas how to resolve all this, it's v. annoying.
Thanks all.

The call most definitely should not fail. You need to report that to
your sertvice provider.

The name not displaying is almost certainly because you have the number
stored on the SIM and on the phone.
The call failing with +44 on it is a problem. All of my numbers have +44
on them and they do not fail.

Re: Caller ID, shows number not name though number is in address book
If its what im thinking I had this years ago with a Nokia (but not Voda) At
the time the same this used to happen with text messages too
Its a Nokia thing.
Its to do with the +44 - remember to remove the 0
If I added a contact without the +44 in the address book, the NUMBER would
display if they called BUT if I added the contact WITH the +44 their name
would appear when they called.
I would remove your brothers conatct and create a new one for him with
+4479XXXXXXXX
Not sure if storing to phone or sim makes any difference - maybe just
experiment.
Good Luck
