I can't seem to find much discussion about this phone here? What do
    people think about it?

Should I wait for the HTC Touch Pro?

Also does anyone think once it's really release / off pre-order it
will come down to Free on 12 month contracts?

Best contract deal I can find so far using http://www.touch-diamond-deals.com/
    is with mobiles2yourdoor

Free HTC Touch Diamond with 12 months half price (via cash back) with
700 minutes and 100 texts per month.
Unlimited calls to UK landlines beginning 01 or 02 and free calls to
one Orange number of your choice.
Average line rental (after cash back) is equivalent to: £23.33 with
the total contract cost over 18 months: £420.00

You can get the touch diamond sim free at play for £399 but obvioulsy
dont get the free minutes and texts.

Any help and advice much appreciated!

I was interested in this phone but now I'm not so sure.
The best way to find out about new gadgets is to look on
    www.cnet.co.uk
    or
    www.stuff.tv
    or
    www.megawhat.tv
I can also recommend the 'Crave' podcast from cnet.co.uk (as distinct
from the .com version) and the stuff.tv podcast.
Although on the rather basic side the podcast from frequencycast is
    also quite good.
It is also worth checking out YouTube.
The conclusion of cnet appeared to be, in a nutshell, as I interpreted
    it, good features but sluggish.
It is best to read the reviews and form your own opinion. Make sure
that it is a proper review based on having the device in their hot
hands rather than something based on a press release etc.

The cnet review seems to have used one with a pre-production ROM. Discussion
on MoDaCo indicates that the pukka UK production ROM models are much
    speeder.

Thanks for the info. I have read, the bits I am interested in, in the
article. There was an important point of interest to me as I was
hoping to get this phone on '3' if it becomes available. It drew my
attention to the HSDPA frequencies. I checked out another site and the
standard frequencies are 900/2100MHz on the Diamond. Apparently the
latter is used in Europe/Asia (but I do know that Telstra, in
Australia, is using 850MHz. A US version of the Diamond is due for
850/1900MHz, but that wouldn't satisfy Oz and UK operation. So, unless
there is a change in options I don't think that this device is going
to offer HSDPA on '3 like home' . If this is so it is a big negative
    for me.
