Has anyone here managed to get a PIN2 or PUK2 code out of Virgin..? I want
to set up fixed dialling on my Nokia 6310i and I'm being asked for the
    PIN2 code.

Virgin swear blind their network doesn't support it and keep telling me to
contact the handset manufacturer, but surely PIN2 is a SIM function not a
handset function..? If the SIM didn't support PIN2 then the menu option
wouldn't be there. I'm almost certain of this as my Tesco SIM in an
identical phone does not display the option for fixed dialling.

I feel I'm bashing my head against a brick wall here, anyone managed to
    solve this..?

I'm sure fixed dialling is /network/ dependent

That's what I thought, but if the network doesn't support it, why is the
relevant menu item present on the SIM..? It *is* on the SIM because if I
transfer that SIM to another phone, the menu item goes with it. Put
another SIM (say my Tesco one) which doesn't support it in the original
phone and the menu doesn't show the option.

    Maybe a sim protocol error?
T Mobile was a PCS network with CSP and PIN 2, Virgin a virtual on T Mobile
if not offering PIN2 might have forgotten to disable PIN 2 on their CSP
    sims?

I cannot see why it should be! It is totally implemented within the SIM and
    needs *NO* network support surely!

All evidence is that Virgin SIMs have PIN2/PUK2 set to *something* but that
their CS staff have no access to what it might be!

Well I need the PUK2 code now as I tried all the defaults (1111, 0000,
    1234) I could think of.

If anyone does find out, *please* let me know..!!

: I'd be interested to. I requested a PUK2 off Virgin, but they just
: said they don't support it.
