    Hi All,

Can anyone recommend a simple XP / OSX utility that would allow me to
copy (Bluetooth) the phonebook off my 6310i and just save / edit it on
my PC (XP or OSX) please?

I don't want to pull it into Access or Outlook, just get it into a
file where it can also be edited and ideally it will be shareware?

    Cheers, T i m

Well I tried that previously and it didn't seem to make connection.
I've just tried it again (jumping on the phone popup 'do you want to
accept connection from PC?' very quickly) and now it seems to be
    working <shrug>.

    Thanks anyway ..

My 12 year old has been using it for a while, with a cheapo Chinese
    Bluetooth dongle..

I have to admit to having mixed results with Bt, especially in regard
to this 6310i. Apparently it could do with a firmware upgrade but it
was tried and didn't work (by a phone shop).

Most other phones I put near most BT devices seem to work ok
(especially direct phone to phone or phone to PC, rather than App to
    phone etc).

Yep, that's the one I got thanks. Do later versions work the same way?
I don't think I remember the one I tried (for a later phone, probably
the latest V of PC Suite) being quite so simple?

One of the problems with Nokia PC Suite is that it doesn't back up but
everything on my phone. Some items have to be done manually.

I used to use a program called Mobile Action which was excellent but
the latest version (MA-730) of this only lasts a year when it has to
be renewed. I think that was a bad move as they must have lost a lot
of sales and the main distributor, Kondor, has stopped supporting it.

Well, no, or not as far as I can see other than being a bit bulky for
my basic needs. That and it didn't seem to want to synch with my 6310i
but it looks like I needed to be a bit quicker on the 'Accept' button
    as it's ok now.

What I hoping for as a stage 2 is a generic app that would talk to all
makes and models of phone and bring the address book (the only bit I
want / need / use) into some common format. So, I can copy the AB off
my everyday phone and put in on my backup phone.

Ah. I tried whatever version was current about a year ago with my 6310i and
couldn't get past that stage; it only seemed to say 'Accept' for a fraction
of a second before it gave up. I used gnokii in the end, assuming that
Nokia had deliberately hobbled PC Suite + older phones in order to persuade
    one to upgrade.

Phew, not just me or my phone then. :-(

Hmm, well, if I can get Ubuntu (8.1) to 1) see a usb dongle and 2)
then see my phone and 3) get Ubuntu to install gnokii I might give
    that a try!
