Restoring Applications:
- Sign in to your Google account
- Press "Menu" while viewing the home screen
- Tap "Settings" and go to the "Accounts" tab
- Tap "Google" > "Sync all"
- Press "Back" and tap "Backup and reset"
- Check / uncheck the "Backup my data" and "Automatic restore" check boxes
Contact Restoration
Restoring Contacts from a Samsung or Google Account:
- Press "Menu" from the home screen
- Tap "Settings" and go to the "Accounts" tab
- Select "Samsung" or "Google", depending on the type of account you've used for the backup
- Tap your "email address"
- Mark the "Sync contacts" check box, or tap "Sync now" if the option is already selected
Restoring Contacts from the SD Card:
- Launch the "Contacts" application
- Go to the "Contacts" tab and press "Menu"
- Tap "Settings" > "Contacts" > "Import / Export"
- Tap "Import from SD card" and select an account if necessary
- Choose the backup VCF file and load its contents to your phonebook
Media File Restoration
Restoring Media Files from the Phone's Storage:
- Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
- Launch "My Files" and go to "All files"
- Tap "SD card" and locate the backed up media files
- Tap and hold the file you want to restore and tap "Move"
- The device will display the available memory locations. Select one or tap "Create new" to move the files in a different folder / location
- Tap "Move here"
Restoring Media Files from a Windows PC:
- Establish a USB connection between the SGS4 VE and computer
- Swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
- Mark the "Media device" check box
- From the AutoPlay window on the PC, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
- Navigate to where you wish to restore the media files from your PC
- Open a secondary Windows Explorer window
- Locate the backed up files stored on the PC's HDD
- Copy the files, and transfer them on your phone's memory
- After the transfer is done, safely disconnect your smartphone
Restoring Media Files from a Mac Computer:
- Connect your S4 Value Edition to your Mac via USB
- Swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device" > "Media device (MTP)"
- Launch Kies on the Mac
- From Kies, click the "Back up / restore" tab
- Click the "Restore" tab
- Mark the check boxes next to "Music", "Photo" and other types of files you wish to restore. Optionally, click "select all items"
- Click "Restore" and follow any additional prompts if necessary
- Once the process is complete, safely disconnect your smartphone
