A concealed YKK zipper is a type of invisible zipper that is sewn into a garment to hide the zipper in the seam of a garment. The most common use for this type of hidden fastener is on dresses, jackets and skirts but it can also be used as an alternative to traditional buttons or snaps.

Do I Already Have a Concealed YKK Zipper in My Garment?

If you are unsure whether or not your garment has a concealed YKK zipper, it might be helpful to take a look at the back of your garment.

A concealed YKK zipper will have two rows of metal teeth on either side of a slider, which can be moved up and down along the length of the zipper (see “What is an Invisible Zipper?”). If you see only one row of metal teeth in your garment’s seam allowance area when looking from behind it, then this means that there is no concealed zipper installed in this section.
