So i know things are different than here in the states. Im getting stationed in Ramstein Germany for 3 years, and just looking for my best options.
I have been told vonage is good to have for a house line because i can get a US number and be able to call there and recieve calls at no additional charge, but i am in need of a cell as well.
Any info is greatly appreciated.

In relation to sending international text messages, you can check out FishText.com. You can send messages to the US for €0.02 if you download the java application to your mobile phone.
As for phone calls from your mobile, i don't know any good services i am afraid, they are harder to come by!

Mobile phone rates are pretty high in Europe. My advice is to use a landline or VOIP for you calls to the US and use a cell phone only as back up or for texting.
