Okay so I'll try to make this as simple as possible but my situation is complex. Especially when you consider there's a complicated FIDO system that needs to be fed appropriately. Here it is:

    Situation:

I have an iphone 3G on Fido under my name. I have had this for about a year and it includes SAF.
    Current Plan
    $17.50 (200 min, unlimited ev./we @ 5PM)
    $30.00 (6GB option data)
$15 (Iphone Value pack - 2500 text/pic. text, VVmail, call ID)
    Total = $81.06 with taxes

Now, I want an iphone 3GS. Therefore I figured to sign up my sister who needs a phone with the 3GS and then swap sim cards (she needs a phone).
However, she needs NO DATA (I want a data block) and very basic plan ($25 a month + caller id = $31 a month on new fido plans without SAF.

I was told, when I called to order, I would get the phone for $199 (iphone 3GS 16GB) but when I called to track and confirm my order they now said it was $399 because I don't want data.

Anyways, I need two plans. I like mine detailed above, and also need the plan in the above paragraph for my sister. Fido is beating around the bush and want to charge me fees up the butt and $399 for the iphone 3GS when I want it for $199.

Does anyone have an idea. Here is what I thought up.

    Ideas/Options:

    1) Sign her up with data, cancel after one month and save $70. ($199 for iphone, $30 for data for the month, $100 cancel = $330 vs. $399 signing up directly without data)

    2) Switch my plan to Rogers (no charge since they are family) get iphone 3GS under my name with data, sign sister up with Fido on basic phone ($0) give her my old iphone 3G with her plan she wants and data block.
Problem: per minute billing and much higher rates (kinda sucks) for Rogers and I like my plan on Fido it is nice. (Does anyone know of any good plans for Rogers that would suit me)

    3) Sign over my contract to sister on Fido, cancel data on this plan ($100 i think), create new plan under sisters name ($35 to switch to new system probably) then sign myself up new contract with iphone 3GS and my data plan ($199). Problem is we need to swap numbers (probably another fee like $25 which could be $50 additionally). Does anyone know specifics.

    4) I would also like to get the $20 refer a friend credit. They have been telling me back and forth that it is possible and then it isnt possible. I am confused.

If you could help me out it would mean the world. I have spent over 5 hours on the phone with fido customer service reps. All of them telling me different things. I like FIDO the best but I am really getting tired of spending countless hours on the phone trying to get them to understand me and work around there information systems. (or so I am told)

Also: I was planning to just add another line to my name that would be my sisters. I can totally sign her up separately whatever works.

I would appreciate it SOOO MUCH if I could get some help. Does anyone have any ideas?

Forgive me..I read the first part and then I stopped. What you're doing in regard to your sister is fine and will work BUT when you order the phone FIDO/ROGERS have to send it out with a data plan. What most people do is cancel the data as soon as they get the phone. However, there is an Early Data Termination Fee of $100.00 if canceled before the committment period is up. That said, if you cancel within 60 days of new order, then the EDTF is $200.00 not $100.00. The rep decided to save you some hassle by placing the order for you and then canceling the data plan. At which point the system puts in the extra $200.00 because you canceled early. This is why your $199 phone has become $399. There is nothing you can do about the EDTF. You are stuck paying the $399.

    Good luck though
