    Well there goes the value proposition for OnStar--the service will now
    work in a lot fewer places, and it's the places that you most want a
    service like OnStar where it will no longer work.

    LOL.

    In California, the emergency call boxes are all on Verizon (except if
    there are any in the rural area served by Golden State Cellular, and I
    don't recall ever seeing any in those areas because there are no
    freeways). So Verizon had to provide coverage in areas that are
    sometimes difficult and expensive to cover.
