I'm trying to flash S868 with SH888 software however since I haven't tryed
to flash any of old Ericsson phones till now I'm little confused.

I have cable which is basicaly data cable that came with SH888 only with
pins 5&6 connected. Phone happily throws output on com1 with 115k bit: 8
parity:0 stop bit:1 flow cntrl: hardware but I'm not sure if these are ideal
    settings.

I have few programs from the net, Eriao v0.92 and All Ericsson Service but
they all hang up after trying to communicate with phone (short press of ON
button on phone). Are those programs compatibile with WinXP or I have to use
    Win98? Any hints?

    Thanks,

    Hi

    It's ages since I've seen a SH888, I'm pretty sure the S868 is actaully
physically diferent to the SH888, so i'm not sure what effect flashing the
SH888 software to it will have. Also make sure you take a backup before you
flash your phone, as SH888 often go 'Contact Service' if the wrong software
is flashed, and since this flag is saved in teh eeprom simply flashing the
correct software won't fix the problem.

Most of the flashing software for the SH888 is designed to run under ms-dos
or windows 3.1. Also I seam to remember needing the battery about 3/4
charged to flash the phone, i'll try and find my notes.

    thanks,

Well my Nokia 6600 died a few days ago and I had box full of 868/888 parts
somewhere in basement so I managed to put together one working phone.

I have both phones and it seems PCB's are identical. Even the connector for
IrDa card is there it's just the S868 case that doesn't have a hole for it.
Currently I have S868 in SH888 case with IrDa card plugged in and everything
is working as it should but there's no "Activate IR" menu.

Can I use All Ericsson total Tool for backup? As I can see it has multiple
options for size of flash and eprom ranging from 64kb to 8Mb. Which are
    correct values for S868?

This could be a problem since I have just put ultra cheap 280mAh NiCd AAA
batteries in original case. Surprisingly it lasts for whole day with lots of
    use.

    Thanks for a tips :-)
