I have been using the R520mfor four years. Its receptions is deteriorating.
Anyone anything good to say about the Z600? As I also need the advanced
car kit, it will be a significant outlay.

Of course, Ericsson promote phones but invariably say that the accessories
are still on order. And you never hear from them again.

I have one and the reception is dismal. My T20 and later T28 (also
with full car kit) were so much better I don't understand how SE got
    it so wrong.

Even when the Z600 is in the car kit (I upgraded that as well) the
reception is still terrible. Perhaps on a par with the T28 when sit in
    the cup holder.

The Z600 is always losing the network, something I never noticed with
any of my other phones. Whereas the T20 and T28 would work inside the
lift when in the basement at work, the Z600 wont even work when
outside the lift in the basement.

Overall, it is very disappointing. I'm in the process of trying to get
SE to examine mine under warranty. If it comes back better I'll be the
first to set the record straight.

That's weird. My Z600 works quite well. Are you on GSM1800/1900 by a chance?

My Z600 is one of the best GSM phones I've tested in terms of RF performance.

I'm on GSM 900. I could switch to a GSM 900/1800 telco but would it
    make any difference?

Probably will make things worse. Anyway my guess is there's something wrong
with your phone... especially if you're on 900Mhz.

    Re: Z600

Well there might be something wrong with the phone, but today I
learned the SE warranty is not global. Since I bought the phone in
Honk Kong SE in Australia will not honour the warranty.

So maybe the phone is broken, but more likley it is just a bad product
and this is why SE don't want to honour the warranty.

Amazing to think that a consumer goods organisation is happy to lose
    this consumer forever.

Really? I brought an Ericsson T39m back with me to Canada from Hong
Kong in 2001, and when the radio fried a few months later Ericsson
Canada shipped it to the States for a warranty repair.

They never fixed it properly, of course, but that's another story :-/
