You can't. It's a power saving feature, and it isn'y just restricted to SE
    phones.

Yup, that should bring your battery life down to about 40 minutes (if you're
    lucky!)

T610: Disable Auto Clock Display After Inactivity?

    Hi.

Thanks for all the answers so far to my other T610 questions.

Next one: I find it infuriating, the way after a short period of
inactivity, it insists on making most of the screen black and
displaying the time in a moving bar. With the screen that dark,
it's practically impossible to read anyway. I want to make it
    STOP!

It persists whether or not I have a "screensaver" activated. (So
what's the point of the "screensaver" then? Duhhhh...

Does anyone know how to prevent this irritating and pointless
    behaviour?

Ideally, I just want my normal "desktop" to stay, regardless of the
    length of inactivity.

    Thanks,

To add to this, pressing either of the volume buttons lights the display
briefly to allow you to read the clock. Pressing any other button clears the
clock so that you can check the status bar for missed calls, text messages
    received etc.

Thanks, didn't know about the volume keys trick.

But as for the screensaver: When does it ever appear? I mean it seems
to go from desktop to stoopic black clock thingy.

Maybe it appears for a brief while before the stoopid black clock
    thingy, but I haven't noticed.

There are a few things I like about the T610, but there are many
things that are just counetr-ergonomic and ill-thought-through.

ALL of it could be fixed with decent firmware.

I mean for example, take the lack of speakerphone feature. It's not
missing for lack of hardware; there is a sufficiently powerful
audio amp/speaker combination in the phone, cos you can play back
sounds you record very loud, and the ringtones can go loud. So
    it's only a firmware issue.

Same for the stupid non-power-saving clock effort after a short
    period of inactivity.

Same for the annoying way it only shows you long emails in "pages" with
a "More" prompt at the bottom. WTF is the point of that? I'd rather it just
download the whole email at once and display it all on one long screen with
a lot of scrolling to be done. Less faffing about.

    Martin - frustrated.

    You can't.

Colour screens consume a lot of power, the *minimal* clock display is done
to conserve power. AFAIK all colour screened phones do this.

Get a phone with a black and white screen.

So what's your solution then, or are you just trolling?

Not true - I have auto key lock turned off, but the screen still goes to
    sleep mode.

You know that spammers will have access to your mobile and full email
    address.

I'd strongly advise against including these details in a publically
    accessibile place.
