I recently bought a Z500a cell phone because in the User Manual it said the
camera Picture Size would go up to "Extended (1280X960)". The camera
will actually only go up to Large (640X480). Big difference. When I called
Customer Support I spoke with a woman that spoke "very" broken english
who dwelled on the statement "it was a slight problem with the printing of
the manual". Every question her answer was "it was a slight problem with the
printing". Now I have no option except stick with this phone for a year or
two. I renewed my Cingular service for 2 years to get the special on two
    of these phones.

Your beef is really with Sony Ericsson. Give them a call.

Actually with Cingular as well, since Cingular sold the phone with certain
advertised features. Regardless, the real recourse is to return the phone and
cancel the contract extension within the grace period.

    Re: Z500a false advertisement

I was also lied to by Cingular and this phone (although my lie might
apply to all Cingular phones). I wanted to know if I could hook it up
with a cable to my laptop and connect to my own ISP using my regular
minutes and was assured I could with no extra charge. Turns out that
you can not use your ISP, must use Cingular as the ISP and take out a
data plan. With Verizon and my old Audiovox I didn't need to do this.
Seeing that I would only need this capability once every few months
when I am out of town so I refuse to support their "plan", especially
after being lied to by incompetant salespeople (which seems to be the
norm in the industry). I called SE and at one point I got someone who
said I could re-program a profile on the phone and it would work, but
then got put on hold and lost this person and could never get him back
because I didn't get a name. If anyone knows if this is possible, I'd
    love to know.

Besides this though, the z500a has been good to me, doesn't drop calls
and works so well in my house that I cancelled my 2nd phone line and
have busy forwarding to my cell when I'm online. I would never think of
    doing that with Verizon.
