I've downloaded the software, installed it to my pc and have attempted to
    run the service.

Everything seems to go fine but the program terminates saying "No Deskstand
Connected"! Weird, as the synch station is connected and quite happily
keeping in touch with my pc.

Have I missed something or done something stupid? has anyone had a similar
experience? Does someone have a solution?

    Thanks in advance.

have you running any other phone software like myphone explorer or
fma? As long as they are connected, seus won't work.

Err, no, don't think I've done anything other than install the PC Suite
    which came with the phone.

I guess everything is "out of the box".

Is there something else I ought to download from the SE website?

What DSS stand or cable do you have?

The standard install should install the drivers, but maybe they didn't.

    OK Steve,

When you are on the PHONE CONNECTION LINK, beside the watch in the right
corner, right click on PROPERTIES and you UNSELECT all the ports.

Then after, you follow the rules as explained with the SE Update Service
program : your take off the SIM card and so on...

    And it works !!!

    Georges

You could try and reinstall the USB drivers (
    http://www.sonyericsson.com/download...SS_Drivers.zip )

Also note if the phone is a P900 or P910, there is something special
    required:

"1. If the PC Suite for P900/P910 is installed on the PC, follow these
    instructions:
    a) Double-click on Phone Connection Link (the two arrows in the tray).
    b) Un-tick the USB port."

Unticking is also what Georges has suggested.

Right, but I never get that far!

The system is asking me to connect the cradle - which is already connected -
and I can't get any further than this
