You think you've got problems...
I to use btopenworld, but my mailbox name is too long to fit in the
space allocated...
So I haven't even been able to test it!

Re: O2 T610 GPRS Email
I've managed to get my Orange T610 and iPAQ (via Bluetooth) set up so I can
download email from BTOW - and send email through the Orange SMTP server
(BTOW apparently requires SMTP authentication which the T610 doesn't
support)
On the T610: go to Messaging - Email - Options - Edit Account
create a new account (called whatever) as follows:
Connect Using: (in my case) Orange GPRS connection (don't know what the O2
equiv. is. This data account was in my phone by default)
Protocol: POP3
Incoming server: 194.73.73.90
Incoming port:110
Mailbox: (your account name)
Password: (etc)
Outgoing server: smtp.orange.net (or whatever other account you have set up)
Outgoing port:25
Hope this helps
Phil

Re: O2 T610 GPRS Email
I have mine working on the O2 email, this message sometimes comes up though
so I assume it is mostly caused by network congestion.
If this problem is consistent you may have the ATN, username or password
wrong.
Good luck.

These are the settings I use for sending/receiving email via O2 on my
T610. The SMTP server has to be the O2 SMTP server but the POP3 server
can be the server of whoever your provider is i.e BTOpenworld. Note
that you must use the INTERNET GPRS APN and NOT the Wap APN.
GPRS
Account Name : O2 Mobileweb
APN : mobile.o2.co.uk
UserID : O2web
Password : password
Password request : off
Allow calls : Automatic
IP address : ... i.e automatically allocated
DNS : ... i.e automatically allocated
Advanced settings : left on defaults
Email Account
Account Name : O2 Email
Connect using : O2 Mobileweb
Protocol : POP3
Incoming server : mail.o2.co.uk
Incoming port : 110
Mailbox : [email protected]
Password : mypassword
Outgoing server : mail.o2.co.uk
Outgoing port : 25
Email address : [email protected]
Note that if you are still getting "server not found" errors then
there may be a problem with automatically allocated DNS servers on
your phone. If this is the case then just replace "mail.o2.co.uk" with
the IP address 193.113.160.13. To find the IP address for your BT
Openworld POP3 server then you can use the command PING from the
command prompt in Windows to find it.

Re: O2 T610 GPRS Email
If you go to the O2 web http://www.o2.co.uk/ota you can get a configuration
message sent to the phone (you probably know this). This is what I did.
Note the settings are different from the standard GPRS set-up so you end up
with two GPRS accounts.
Under Connectivity->Data Coms etc
On my setting the APN is mobile.O2.co.uk
user id 02web
password o2web (I think)
IP adr (unset)
DNS 192.113.200.200
on the regular wap GPRS APN is mobile.O2.co.uk
user id 02wap
password password (I think)
IP adr (unset)
DNS (unset)
Under Messages->Email->Options->Connect Using select the first account
above.
The pop3 and stmp you know. The port number are incoming 110 and outgoing
25.
I suspect these are standard but your own server may use a different port.
Try getting going using the O2 set-up message and then change your pop3
server.
Good Luck
