P800 polyphonic tones

The P800 can accept up to 16 simulatenous tracks.

Is this a harware feature or could it be upgraded (not necessarily by just
anyone) to reproduce more tracks/instruments like the T610??

there is a midi enhancement patch that adds more instruments in the
p800's polyphony, plus it enhances the volume.
