I have read there is no way of disabling it which seems quite annoying.
Any thoughts on the camera shutter? Does putting the phone on silent not get
rid of it? Can you select different sounds for the shutter?

there is a mute function for the shutter... whoever told you that it
cannot be disabled probably has a p800 with an older firmware... the
new firmware has this feature.

How silly of me, I didn't mention the phone model I was referring to, the
T610....

Ah, cheers, haven't got one yet, just considering it. Either that or the
Nokia 6600 (which would involve expense, a longish wait and possibly
firmware upgrades....) It doesn't seem that any current phone can compete
with the T610 in terms of features.....

Definitely not! I really recommend it - if you've read this group you'll
have seen the few bugs and annoyances.. but the benefits far outway this!
