    hiya,

    i've browsed a lot of this group's archives, but don't think anybody's
    had this issue...

    i have a t68m (upgraded to t68i, firmware R6xxx something) purchased
in Italy, flashed by a Ericsson service point in Italy. the phone is
unlocked, as far as i can tell, because:

(1.) In the hidden Services menu, when i view SIMlock settings, all 4
    padlocks are unlocked.

(2.) Accessing the other hidden menu (<**> at password prompt) it
shows all Network settings as unlocked. (and set to MNC2, whatever
    that means.)

(3.) the phone came with some sort of WIND (an italian telecom)
promotion, but i actually purchased a Vodafone SIM from a walk-in
store, so i'm pretty sure it can handle different italian providers...

anyhow, i just bought a Cingular (U.S.A.) SIM card, but when i try and
use it, i get a 'phone lock' prompt. the 0000 and 00000 defaults
    don't work.

is there another form of phone lock that isn't shown in any of the
'secret' menus? like, a European lock or something? the only thing
i've noticed is that, by my firmware revision number, there are some
    'Customization' codes.

any ideas? (please reply via newsgroup.)

    thanks in advance,
    -j

The phone was flashed at an authorized service point(and I hope you have the
paper to show for it), so that's not an issue at all.

Different providers may customize the default lock code to different values.

All Italian phones should be SIM unlocked.

I believe the phone lock is set to "automatic", so that when you put in a
SIM different from the previous one, you have to enter the code. This is a
    user customizable option.

You can always ask SE service for help.

    Hi again.

Sorry, just realized. Correct as the other say here:
It is probably the automatic Phonelock.
I believe the default code is 11111 or 00000
But it must have been the user that locked it (or some of his/her 'friends'
