Bonjour
Can someone explain what GPRS is as I have just got a T610 for Xmas and I
have tried to send a picture message but cannot due to failure to connect
via GPRS.
Also can I send ringtones to the phone from the internet and how?
Thanks in advance.

Re: T610 GPRS question.
GPRS is an option you can subscribe.
I can't be helpful, but in France, it costs about 4 euros
and permits to be connected to internet anytime, because
the bill is done inly on volume of data transmitted.
The speed of transfer is about 33600 bauds, much better
than old system wap.
This mode allows you connection to your provider, and to manufacturer
too, to download ringtones, games, etc....
If what you want is to send ringtones to your phone (or pictures), try to
buy
a bluetooth usb dongle, aor ise infrared if your computer is equipped, this
will
be much cheaper ! A simple midi file can make a great ringtone WITHOUT ANY
MODIFICATION, also a JPEG picture is understood by the phone too.
Nice present for Christmas ! Tanks, Santa !

Which network is it? GPRS is basically an always-on connection, and it is
the method usually used to send MMS. You may need to have it activated by
your service provider, and/or have the settings sent to your phone.

GPRS is internet access for mobile phones. You might need to ring your
provider (Orange, T-Mobile, Vodaphone, O2) and ask them to enable it for
your account. Your phone may also need to be configured... ask them when you
ring them.

Yes. Some sites charge you 1-3 pound to send a ringtone to your phone.
However, you can just download a midi file (.mid) from anywhere and transfer
to your phone from your PC, via connection cable, ifra-red or bluetooth. You
will probably have to buy an extra piece of heardware to do this... a data
cable, an IR port or a bluetooth USB dongle.
