Just got the Motorola BT HS820 Headset. Works pretty good with the V551. Not
ear fatigue like in-ear models. Battery life has been decent so far...same
charger as phone was a selling point. BT1.2 also a selling point.

Problem with the combo is that only certain rings are possible when the
headset is paired and operational. In other words, I can not select "Jingle
Bells.mp3" as my headset ringtone. So far I have only been able to get the
Nextel sounding super loud tone to work with the handest and the headset.
This sucks because I can not determine what kind of call I am receiving
(i.e. business or personal, known or unknown caller). This was not
implemented wel by Motorola, and should have been a no-brainer.

Also, headset answering doesn't seem to have a voice activated capability
like my old Kyocera. The old phone would say "incoming call from Bob Jones-
do you want to answer?" and if I said yes, the call would go through. Of
course, if I had no pre-recorded voice dial name, then it would say
"incoming call, answer?" Yes or No would do the trick. This was a kick-ass
feature that I wish Motorola would pick up on. Also, the voice dialing is
not as good as Kyocera's phones. Not as accurate, fewer erors with the
Kyocera. But alas, Cingular has no Kyocera models, and Kyocera has no BT
    models.

Aside from those issues, so far so good with the combo --providing adequate
handsfree capability, but not mind-blowing functionality. The hands-free is
the best part about it. For all of you considering the phone and headset,
try to get familiar with the shortcomings of the V551. The headset seems to
work very well so far and it should work with any BT device able to
    interface with a headset.

Please share your comments about the V551.

I have the same problem. I wouldn't have bought this headset if I had known
that you could only use pre-selected ringtones. That sucks!
