RAZR v3 Invalid battery

When my OEM battery wore out I got a replacement 800mAh made in Tiawan
and not branded Motorola. Shortly after the phone would turn off
suddenly and I traced it to a bad form fit that I fixed for the most
part with some paper shims. Well now after many months, I decided to
put my old battery in to double check form fit, because my paper shims
became misplaced from bumps etc. Well, the phone with OEM battery said
'Invalid Battery' and would not charge. I then put in the non-OEM
replacement battery and get the same message and can not charge it.
Should I do one of the Resets? Will this erase my SIM contact's? Or is
the out warranty phone hosed? If so, I think I am going back to Nokia.

Before you do anything, leave the batteries out of the phone overnight
and try again in the morning. The OEM battery needs to be charged when
you put it in. Master Reset won't clear everything but Master Clear
will.
