I just called my phone company who told me that my unlock code was PROBABLY
the last four digits of my phone number. Now, if that's true, which I tend
to doubt, how to I enter it into the phone?
WHy do I have a nagging feeling it can't be this easy?

It is that easy. If it's NOT the first 4 digits of your phone number
try 0000.
To enter the unlock code you have to wait until the phone asks for it
which would only be when you're entering something that's protected by
the code.
OTOH, if you think the unlock code will "unlock" your phone so it can
be used on another network, no, that's something completely different
and usually requires more than keying in a simple code.

Re: Using the unlock code
Oh no! I just want to be able to use all the features of the phone! I like
my Verizon service very much.
How exactly can I get it to ask? I want the phone to use MP3 ringtones and
let me see the file system. I have P2L Tools up and running successfully, I
think, but when I click on File System I just get a blank screen.
THANK YOU for your help! I am a bare newbie at phones!
All I want is my money's worth out of the phone.

It's not a simple project. You'll have to do a bit of modding to the
phone. Start here: www.howardforums.com and find your phone under
Verizon, then begin reading carefully and, to avoid a previous
misunderstanding I had with someone else, "reading carefully" means
following links to other web pages and reading them also.
Please tell us what phone you have and maybe we can point you to
specific help for that phone.
Allow plenty of time, this isn't something you're going to get done
quickly but the end results are very worth the time!

Re: Using the unlock code
Thank you so much. I know I sound stupid, but I don't know how to enter the
code, or where. On the Verizon phone, the menu options for every locked
feature is gone so I'm not sure how to get it to ask.
Thank you very much.

Re: Using the unlock code
Thank you! I am pretty technical and just need a little guidance to get me
started.
I'll go to that site at once.
I have the Verizon Razr v3m. Love the phone and the service but I wish they
had told me it wouldn't do everything it was supposed to. I would have gone
elsewhere. I hate having a device and not being able to use all it's
functions. Thank you all!

You should have no problem, when you reach the site, click on Verizon
as a carrier, then Motorola, then look for your phone, you'll find a
bunch of topics.
If you want to ask a question there, you'll have to register, all they
ask is a user name, a valid email address (it can be a throwaway such
as Yahoo or Hotmail) and a password, you don't need to give any
personal information.
Also, you'll want to look here for some of the things referred to on

Re: Using the unlock code
I'm in the process of researching it now. I just realized that P2K Tools
ISN't connecting to my phone. It is looking for programs that don't seem to
be there.
They are Moto Test Command, Moto Acessory, etc.
I'm going to have to try again. I'm not sure what's going on.
Thank you SO MUCH for your help! I do appreciate it!
