i58sr vs i305

Hi, I'm looking into either the i58sr or the i305. I need a rugged
phone that's has a decent battery life and reception. I read that the
i305 has the same durability as the i58sr plus it is water resistant.
Anyone find that to be true? Are there any other advantages to the
i305? My friend swears by his i58sr but I'm wondering if the i305 is
the replacement for it.

I've had good experiences with the i55sr unit, the i58sr is the same but
includes GPS. I've dropped it from a fourth floor balcony onto concrete
more then once (mostly because it was fun), without difficulty.

However, I can confirm that the i55sr does not know how to swim.

From what I've seen of the i305 it looks like a decent unit, but I
haven't used one myself yet.

I'd rather be told "Have a nice day" by someone who doesn't mean it,
than to "F--- OFF" by someone who does.

i305 is a bigger bulkier unit but will take more abuse than the i58. As far
as being water resitant - it's just resistant not water proof. Dropping it
in water will still damage the phone. It's meant to be driving rain
resistant.

Yeah, understood.

My i55sr went through some abuse, including snow and water.

i530 is rugged too. All nextel phones are rugged if you want the honest
truth, I had an i95 that I dropped almost everyday. It's been in the snow
when i was snowmobiling and its been in the sand when i was in florida. I've
had it exposed to water as well when its raining out. It's a good idea to
have a T6 and a T8 screw driver handy incase you need to pull the phone
appart and dry it out other than that, nextel phones are pretty hard to
kill.
