hello peoples. i purchased an i730 about 6 months ago and about 3
weeks ago it started acting funny. that morning after "mike-ing" with
a friend for a couple of minutes the phone automatically went into
airplane mode. i tried everythin i could to get it out of airplane
mode but it just would not budge. powered it off, on again a couple of
times, but just would not get out of airplane mode. i could not
receive any calls, could not make any. i tried powering if off one
last time and on again - guess wat happens next............the phone
would not stop vibrating (i always have it on vibrate) until i power
it off!!! so i decide to take it to telus and they say it needs repair
and would take at least 4 weeks before i get it back. and so i get a
loaner and after 3 weeks they call me - my phone is ready for pickup.
i get a replacement phone. does anyone know what happened??? thanks.

What are we, freakin' psychics? Why don't you ask the repair place what
    the problem was?

No, but a similar problem could've happened to someone else. Then that
person could give their two cents to the first person. Perhaps a discussion
on the subject could be brought about if its a common problem. Then
information would've been collectively shared. You know, since that's the
    point of a newsgroup.

Why not cut out all the middlemen, speculation, etc. and ask the repair
shop what the problem was? Guess that makes too much sense. Now I can
see if someone was having problems and didn't know what was causing it
but Mr. Einsten had already gotten a replacement phone, he should've
found out what the problem was at that time and then relayed it here,
instead he wants Madame Cleo to give him his answer. I need more coffee.

I730 was rushed for sure. It has had 6 software patch releases. Most
Nextel's get that many in their lifetime not 6 months. I always
suggest upgrading software if it acts goofy. You will need data cable
    and go to idenupdate.com
