Hello,
I'm thinking about starting service with Nextel and wanted to know how
they billed voice call and direct connect time. I have heard many
conflicting stories from others, even Nextel reps on there billing
increments. If you have any phone preferences or coverage information in
the Minneapolis area, I would be more then happy to read about it.

Re: Nextels billing increments?
Nextel plans have separate buckets of minutes for cellular and PTT
Direct Connect... These minutes have different billing increments
dependent upon which plan you are looking at. Most plans bill cellular
minutes with "one minute rounding" and Direct Connect minutes are billed
in one second increments. Only on the multi-line share plans are the
cellular minutes billed in on one second increments. Additionally,
Direct Connect minutes are only billed to the initiator... not the
receiver, unless a 6 second lag occurs between responses. The Direct
Connect minutes are billed fairly for this type of usage.

Re: Nextels billing increments?
My single-line 1000 anytime minute plan rounds to the second. Only the =
first minute in a cell call is rounded to the minute, then after that =
it's rounded by the second. Second rounding depends on your plan. Direct =
Connect is always rounded to the second.
