I turned on my i90c phone this morning and noticed after it had connected to
the NEXTEL that the little "IP" icon was missing from the idle menu, and
when I start up the web browser it says "Network Not Available." I've been
all over town, same thing. Is it probably an outage or should I contact
customer care? I have no idea what it does (since I don't use NEXTEL
Online), I just know when the phone connects to NEXTEL after it turns on it
always transmits and receives stuff for a few seconds, so I'm not sure if
    its important or not.

You only need the IP for any wierless web stuff. Two-Way Messaging, NOL
Web, even some Price Plans need an IP because it comes with nifty WW
    options.

Yeah, I'm on the Free Incoming 400 plan, so no Wireless Web stuff. I can't
really see why I would need it, I don't even know how much it costs or
    anything. Thanks for the answer.

Also, if you are a new customer, and follow the instruction manual, it will
tell you to activate OARSS security the first time you turn on your phone or
within 20 days of first activation. I believe this is what establishes the
IP Icon that you see. Not knowing any better, it is easy to mistake the
signing up for Net services (which are billable if used) with an implied
need for additional digital security. They turned my net access (IP Icon)
off when I called in to complain about spam, and referenced the arrows on
the IP icon showing data coming in and going out of the phone when it was
receiving spam messages. I may not have been entirely accurate in my
reference to the IP icon and the data direction arrows, but it didn't take
them anytime to remove that distraction from my idle screen. I had already
been assigned a net address and had received FAQs for using the Browser.
