I am thinking of switching carriers. Can you tell me how the GSM coverage
is in Gainesville & North Florida in general? Are you satisfied with the
company in general?
Thanks in advance... Bruce

Re: Gainesville, FL coverage?
NEXTEL is iDEN, not GSM. However, I am a NEXTEL customer in Ocala, and
travel to Gainesville three times a week (also a UF student), and the
coverage in and around Ocala and Gainesville (and up US441 or I-75) seems to
be excellent. The call quality far exceeds Sprint PCS or Alltel, although I
am not sure about the GSM/TDMA carriers around here because I have not had
an opportunity to use any TDMA/GSM based service. I know that AT&T didn't
have any GSM north of Ocala, but with the purchase of US Cellular's assets
up there they may now be offering it, I don't really know.

Re: Gainesville, FL coverage?
i second that. nextels coverage is far better here than in orlando even. it
works perfectly all over campus where cingular and the others do not. well,
its not perfect, but i never have a problem. gotta have that disclaimer in
there in case verizon people feel like pouncing... it worked up near lake
swan where verizon did not.
