Ocassionally when I go to answer my phone (Nokia 7250) it turns off.

I've checked the battery contacts and they seem fine.

I remember other Nokia phones having firmware problems that used to cause
this sort of behaviour but I'm not sure if my 7250 (not 7250i) is one of
    these.

Just checked and the firmware in my phone is V 3.12 (14-02-03)

    Is that the latest?

    thanks
    Jeff

    Re: Nokia 7250 turning off

It may need a battery gasket installed
    Its a genuine nokia part
it stoppes the battery from moving around

Take it to your nearest Repair Centre

even out of warranty NOKIA will give you an RA number to get the firmware
upgraded, just ring them and ask for an RA number (which they will give you
when you tell them of the problem)

the good thing is if its not firmware they will still pay for hardware to be
fixed out of warrnaty AS LONG AS ITS FIRMWARE YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT! the
service center will just bill nokia as normal... good1hey!
