3310 Welcome message

Hi, after entering my pin code "hello" is displayed momentarily until the
network is displayed.

I have tried erasing the welcome message (in phone settings), even wrote
another and saved it - but I still get "hello" displayed.

This is a second-hand phone and I do not have a manual with it - but I have
read the online pdf manual and it hasn't helped.

It's more than likely a message put on the SIM card by you provider. For
example, in the UK, Vodafone put a stupid "How are you?" message that pops
up every tiem you turn the phone on. Not a lot you can do about it other
than obtaining an alternative SIM that doesn't have the message.

The message from the provider is on the phone rather than the SIM. I have
just transferred my Vodafone SIM from a Nokia, which displayed my welcome
note as I expected. Put it into my new phone and I get the "How are you?" as
you describe.

I thought it strange so I put in a T-Mobile pay as you go SIM ... still got
the "How are you?"

Unfortunately, though, I don't know why you're unable to overwrite the
"hello" message.

No it doesn't, it provides context and he munged the spammers URL, so
personally I don't see a problem.
