I think he meant a new phone with the old connector.
Fitting in the old CARK-91 car-kit.
    I want one too.

The 6310i is the replacment for that and is, AFAIK, the end of the line for
    that range.

The business phone that they're pushing now is the 6600.

Stupid of Nokia. If a need a new expensive car-kit, then I might use
the opportunity to change manufactorer of the phone as well, right?

What was wrong with the old connector.

And - how long will the new connector be standard ?

And - why couldn't they only change the cradle of the car-kit ?
(you need to change the controller box as well to upgrade now)

Anyone from Nokia here that could bring some light to this ?

I've just had a look at both those on the Nokia website and have
spotted both have cameras. I don't want a business phone that has a
camera - if i feel the need to take a photograph I will use a camera.
Likewise I won't consider using my camera to make a phone call.

Nokia can by all means market phones that have cameras etc, but it
would pay them (imho) to also market a phone that is on par with the
6310i (and fits the CARK 91 if possible). Who knows, perhaps their
    market share will pick up!

It's soon very hard to find any new phone from any manufacturer without a
camera, be it targeted for business or personal users. I don't consider
cameras important either, but it doesn't prevent me from buying a phone that
has the look, feel and features I want.

IMHO Nokia are going to regret dropping the 6310i, probably the most
successful business-oriented phone ever. There is a *huge* customer base
out there with CARK-91 kits that they have been using since the 6150 or
    earlier.

Yep. And why do we have to change the WHOLE kit to upgrade?

Couldn't they make the new connector compatible, so that only
the cradle had to be changed (much easier and less expensive)

BTW: The new standard connector on the new phones, does it have
support for external antenna (the 63xx had that on the top back)?

If there is no antenna support then that is really bad :-(

I see the 6230 has "5 lines for text in basic mode with 16-pixel
font" whereas the 6310i has "Up to 6 lines for text, numbers, and
    graphics".

Does this mean that the 6230 does not display any more text than
    the 6310i?

Yes, but it won't fit my CARK91!

Why do they have to keep making phones with more and more bells, whistles,
and useless toys? Just give is a modern equivalent of their best ever phone
(in its time) the 5110i to fit a CARK91 and they'll sell millions.

Re: When is 6310 going to be replaced?

I asked the same question to Nokia Customer Support in the Netherlands and
    they replied:
    - No there isn't gonna be a replacement phone fitting the Cark-91
    - It isn't possible to manufacture a phone fitting the old system BECAUSE
the carkit can not cope with things like the new multimedia functions,
polyphonic ringtones, color displays and so on (which is totally bogus I
think; the only thing a carkit has to do is extend the microphone and
    speaker.....)
