Hi,
I have installed the Nokia 6310 software, to connect to my desktop via my
serial port. However the Nokia software tells me that the phone is not
connected. But it is connected to serial 1.. Windows XP Home tells me that
serial port 1 is working OK
Any suggestions?

What kind of cable are you using to connect? Is it a DAU9 or DLR3? I
know that the PC Suite will only work with DLR3 cables or infrared.
But, LogoManager works with any: try the free LogoManager for Nokia
phones trial from
http://www.logomanager.co.uk/download.php and see if you can see the
connection.

Are you sure the cable is OK ? Also try another app like Mobimb or Oxygen
PM.

If you try LogoManager and still can not gain a connection, then check
PC Suite is not grabbing the connection (de-select the cable option in
the Nokia connection manager) and check the com port is freed up in
the device manager (may be worth trying on another PC to account for
any driver interference on the ports). If no success, I think I know
the reason:
Your DLR3 cable may only work with the 6210 and 7110. I have heard of
this before. Unless it is a genuine Nokia manufactured cable. Notice
the two separate cables sold at
http://www.logomanager.co.uk/php/cat.php?cat=cables.
May be worth getting the 6310/6310i DLR-3 serial data/modem cable
specifically.

Re: Nokia 6310
It's all working now.
I simply wen to the web site and grabbed the latest software, and it worked
immediately.
Both cables I have are Nokia brand.
Thanks all for the suggestions.
