I've been searching through the menus, but I can't figure out what
firmware version my 6310i has. I'm in the market for clue.
Also, is there a site for downloading the newest firmware? I heard
that I need v5.5 for reliable Bluetooth/GPRS. The nokia.com website
search engine was no help.
Thanks,
Dave

At the standby screen, press *#0000#

Several, but what are you planning to do with it once you've got it?

Latest firmware is v5.52, v5.51 was stable as well, and really you should
have one of these for reliable BlueTooth comms.

No big surprise there then! ;-)
Bear in mind that even if you do locate the firmware, you'll need a decent
flashing solution to actually get it onto the phone - Twister, Griffin or
Prodigy will all do it, Twister is far and away the best, but it will set
you back £200 UKP and upwards.

My phone is already unlocked... do I have to buy some crazy software
just to get the new firmware?

Type in *#0000# in to the handset and the firmware version will show
on the screen.

Nokia fixed a bluetooth glitch in firmware 5.5, so you would need 5.5
or above in most circumstances.

Flashing firmware i not just a question of uploading it over a data cable.
The firmware is encrypted, and it's important to use the right tools to
upload new firmware to the phone.
If you want to have a look at what Twister or Griffin are, take a look at
www.gsm-solutions.co.uk
If you need more info on how to flash DCT4 handsets, take a look on

Unlocking has no bearing on your ability to flash the firmware. It
can't be done with a standard data cable.
You need the appropriate dongle and software. As both are needed
together even if you were able to get a copy of the software it
wouldn't be much use to you.
If this is a one-off try your local Nokia service centre or one of the
many online vendors who do repairs or firmware upgrades.
