    Hi,

I was considering getting the Nokia 6600 to replace my 6820, but does the
6600 use the same car kit? I realise I would need a new cradle, but is it
pop port like the other new mobiles?

    Thanks

    Rich

    Re: 6600 and Car Kits

You'd need a Bluetooth car kit as the 6600 doesn't have a PopPort. You can
buy a cradle but there's no charging facility. On the plus side the phone
connects to the car without having to take it out of your pocket etc. On
that note, does anyone know of a utility for the 6600 which will unlock the
phone automatically when it connects to the car kit in the same way that,
eg, the 7250 unlocks and relocks when placed in and taken out if its car
    cradle?

    Oh,

So my current kit which is for the 6820 is no longer of use then? Why the
hell can't Nokia just decide on a standard!!!! I thought they had done this
    with the pop port!!!!!

Ah well, looks like I'll be sending it back then!

    Thanks anyway

The 6630 which is out later in the year and is much like the 6600 will have
a PopPort (but looking at the shape of it you'd still need to change your
    cradle).

This seems to me to be one of the major failings of the Nokia 6600, not
having a pop port. My friend has one of these phones and I have used it
quite a bit and must say in it's basic form it is very dissapointing.

Many features that should have been standard in such a phone require 3rd
    party applications to be installed.

I hope Nokia learn from this poor offering and come up with a Symbian
phone that can improve on a good performer such as the Nokia 7250i.

    6600 doesn't have pop-port.

Should have gone for the Bluetooth car kit, Rich!
