    Hello!

I just installed a handsfree car kit (CK-7W with MBC-17 holder) in my wife's
truck for her Sprint Nokia 3588i phone. If she has the call volume at a
decent level to carry on a conversation, the incoming call ring volume
nearly blasts her into the back seat. She has her Normal profile with a loud
ring so it can be heard from inside her purse.

I had a Nokia 6360 and CARK91-H kit in my truck and I swear it could
automatically switch to a different profile. I did not set it up, though,
and I don't have the kit any more to test it out. I think the guy who set up
my 6360 changed the Pager profile and renamed it to Handsfree. I tried that
on this phone but it does not automatically switch profiles.

Is there a way to set up the 3588i phone so that it automatically uses a
different profile with lower call volume, different ring, etc, while
connected to the car kit? Neither the car kit user manual nor the phone user
manual mentions profiles while in the car kit. I want it to use the Normal
profile when out of the kit and a different profile when in the car kit.

    Thanks for any help!

I found this on Nokia's web site. It works to lower the ringer volume, but
it does NOT change the ring tone itself from "Nokia tune" to the "ring ring"
I have set up in the actual profile (renamed pager profile) that is now the
default handsfree profile. Oh, well, at least I got the volume down.

Q: How do I change the enhancement settings on my Nokia phone?
    A:
Note: You must have an enhancement (such as a loopset) attached to your
phone prior to selecting the Enhancement settings menu.

To select and customize profiles for use with the headset, handsfree device
    (car kit), loopset and TTY/TDD:

Press Menu > Settings > Enhancement settings.
Scroll to one of the following enhancement profiles and press Select:
    Handsfree
    Headset
    Loopset
    TTY

    Handsfree
For "Handsfree", scroll to an option and press Select to enter the submenu
    and modify the settings.
Default profile - Choose the profile you want to be activated automatically
when your phone is connected to a car kit.
Automatic answer - Calls are answered automatically after one ring when your
phone is connected to a car kit. Scroll to "On" or "Off" and press Select.
Lights - Choose to keep the phone lights always on, or to shut off
automatically after several seconds. Scroll to "On" or "Automatic" and press
    Select.
