I am a complete beginner with 'modern' mobile phones and I have just
purchased a Nokia 1100 phone connected to the O2 network in the UK.
After sending a text message I get the 'sent' confirmation but I understand
I should also be able to get a delivery report as to whether the message has
reached its destination phone.
I have gone into message settings - common settings and set the delivery
report to 'yes' but I still don't get confirmation of delivery. Should I be
setting another option or is this service only available from certain
providers.
Also whilst in common settings what does 'reply via same centre' mean and
should it be set to yes or no.
Any help appreciated
Paul

If you start your message with RCT then you will get a delivery report. You
should not have reply via same message centre set to yes - this means
everyone (whatever network they are on) will use the O2 message to send
their texts - so this won't work for people not on O2

Sorry folks but I still can't get it to work. does the *0# have to be put in
with numerical mode set ie the display shows *0# or in normal mode in which
case the symbols don't show.

Also what does a delivery report look like - is it just a symbol or a text
message, do you have to stay in message setting or will it appear in standby
mode?

the first three symbols of you text message, however you manage to do it. A
delivery report is received as a text message in the normal way and reads
something like this "Message 093035559 to 447802499999 delivered at 17:04 on
26-Oct-04 Text "hello, pub tonight"
Hope this makes things a little clearer
