dear friends,
I have a Nokia 7710.
During the installation of the PC Suite, the installation procedure seems to
hang up at the very end.
I have checked with the task manager: the installation wizard creates
hundreds of regsvr32 processes!!
Anyway, after 20 minutes the installation ends.
At this point the conection manager refuse to connect to the
phone (I have tried both USB cable and bluetooth) saying it can't
use media modules (code: mmlistempty) and that the list of connections is
empty.
When unistalling the PC Suite, the same problem observed during the
installation:
the wizard seems to hung up, hundreds of regsvr32 processes are created,
after 20 minutes the suite is uninstalled.
PS: I have tryed with both 6.4 and 6.5 versions!
I'm quite puzzled ,,,
Thankyou for any help!

What OS is your PC running?
For ver 6.4 and above you need XP with SP2..

Untrue. I have 6.5 on a w2ksp3 machine and it works. Well, within the
confines of how poorly PC suite works in general, but it didn't require XP
at all.

Re: PC Suite 6.x install / unistall / connection problem (mmlistempty + regsvr32)
dear firends,
I was using XP SP1.
I have installed SP2 and now everything works fine with the USB connection!
I still have some troubles with the bluetooth, but from other messages I
suppose it depends
on the bluetooth stack. I will try to figure out ...
Thanks!

I'm running XP pro with SP2 and I have the exact same problem with PC
Suite versions 6.4 and 6.5. Install, uninstall and repair spawn
hundreds of regsvr32's and the procedure takes dozens of minutes.
I get the mmlistempty error too, but the installation succeeds, kind
of. The suite starts fine and it tells me that it's connected with my
6822 (works with BT and IR), however none of the applications (content
copier, pc sync) work.
Ideas, anyone?

Re: PC Suite 6.x install / unistall / connection problem (mmlistempty + regsvr32)
Oh yeah, forgot to mention that the Content Copier says "Failed to
create component instances. Please verify that the components are
installed correctly." before closing. This is clearly a symptom of the
failed regsvr32's. Can anyone tell me how to register the required
components?

Re: PC Suite 6.x install / unistall / connection problem (mmlistempty + regsvr32)
I profiled Content Copier with Dependency Walker and the log is
available here: http://www.tuug.org/~hezamu/ContentCopierProfile.html
It fails with the message "Failed to create component instances". In
the background there are 10 instances of regsvr32 running, capping my
CPU to 100%. After 5 minutes or so they each fail with something like
"LoadLibrary (NclWCBT14MM.dll) failed. GetLastError returned
0x0000007e.". The dll's that fail this way (same error) are:
NclWCBT14MM.dll
NclMSBTMM.dll
NclWCBT13MM.dll
NclToBTMM.dll
NclWCBT30MM.dll
NCLUSBMM.dll
NCLRSMM.dll
NclIVTBTMM.dll
NCLABTMM.dll
NCLIrDAMM.dll
However I've deducted that the real culprit is some DLL those are
trying to register, not those dll's themselves.
Anyone, preferably with Nokia, care to look at the profiler dump? I'm
getting a bit anxious here, because I need to get my 200+ business
contacts to my phone...

The trace doesn't really tell us much here - it sounds like PC Suite just
isn't detecting your drivers correctly. I can't say mroe with regard to PC
Suite, but depending on what phone you are using, if you need to transfer
the contacts urgently, then there are alternatives, including LogoManager
Pro Suite below.
You can perhaps try the demo, and if there are any problems they could be
related to the problems PC Suite is experiencing. Feel free to contact our
tech support to talk about it, whether you intend to get our software or
not.
