Hi,
has anyone in the UK succesfully got their Nokia 9300 firmware upgraded
to 5.22 (or later) ? If you did , where did you get it done ? I have
visited most of the Nokia suggested certified repair shops and they all
make a plumbers sucking noise through their gritted teeth and say "Oh
No , we can't do those "
If anyone has found somewhere where they can do this (ideally while you
wait) I'd be very interested to hear

I had no problem getting the firmware on my 9500 upgraded at my local
service point, but beware, my phone was supplied by Vodafone and Nokia have
just confirmed to me that there is a problem with 5.22 firmware and
Vodafone 'branding' which will be fixed in the next firmware release
(whenever that is)
Perhaps your local service point hasn't invested in the necessary equipment
to upgrade 93/9500s?
It takes about 40 minutes BTW.

Out of interest where did you get it done ? I live work in

OK, I've had my phone re-flashed this morning at my service centre in York
and they've reflashed it with the generic Nokia 5.22 firmware and it
appears that everything is now OK.
What makes you think that your Voda handset is unbranded? To all intents
and purposes mine was unbranded, no Vodafone logo, etc. But the code was
still specific to Vodafone, and that is what the problem is...

Re: getting 9300 firmware updated in the UK
well the device came without a contractor sim and I simply placed my
existing vodafone SIM in it. I'd assumed that prior to that it had no
Vodafone specifics ?
Did/do you get an annoying double tone when dialing. Sort of a
continental ringing tone for a few seconds untill the UK ringing tone
has started (with overlap) drive me crazy and hoped it was one of the
numerous fixes

Re: getting 9300 firmware updated in the UK
OK thanks to all who helped , especially as I was a bit vague about
wether the phone was Vodafone. Sorry about that .
Anyway Carphone Warehouse in the Broad Street Shopping Mall in Reading
upgraded the phone overnight and all is well.
Some minor changes and have got rid of the annoying "double" dialing
tone
Have yet to see if my previous connection dialing problems are resolved
