I kind of posted this question in another post, but thought I'd give it its
own. Over the last week I've been looking for new phones. I hate Motorola
phones, and thought that I would try Nokia phones rather than staying with
(my current brand of) Samsung. I found the 6682 on Cingular.com and
LetsTalk.com, and I've been reading reviews the last few days. Looks like
I've waited too late... it looks like they are unavailable indefinitely.
LetsTalk.com said they are backordered over 300 units for this phone, with
no idea when they will get more in, and Cingular (stores) say they don't
know when they'll be in either. BestBuy (store employee) said "there are
some in the 'warehouse' (whatever that means)," but he doesn't know when
they will be rolled out. A Cingular store employee told me that he heard
from another store that the phones that haven't been sold are being recalled
due to voice mail retrieval issues. Anyone heard anything else?

Does anyone have this phone and would like to comment? I've heard nothing
but raves about it, and I am eager to get one (I live in the Houston area).

    Thanks-

Re: 6682... Where did it go in the US?

I got one through Nokia as a warranty exchange when my 6230 had
problems. I like it much better. Nice camera with built in flash,
decent speaker, big screen. I don't do text messaging, and the keypad
is a little small for my big fingers, but it is alot better than my
6230. I haven't had any voice mail issues. I received a couple voice
mails without problem. My 6230 was stopped from being sold over
firmware/software issues that locked the keypad. I'm in the Austin
area. I'll let you know if I see any about.

    Thanks...

The people in the stores seem to think it will be arriving within weeks, but
the person I spoke with today at 1-866-CINGULAR told me that it had already
"reached the end of its life cycle" at Cingular and was being replaced by a
non-smart flip phone. I don't think she knew what she was talking about.
This phone is proving to be extremely difficult to find!

    Thanks again!

I'm sure the person you spoke with has model number confusion. I'm
still waiting for the local stores to stop selling the 6620 and put the 6682
    on the shelf.

According to a Nokia dealer rep I've contacted the 6682 is due to be
shipped out to stores again this week, today being 12/12/2005.

This was pull from the shelves due to Software issue.

course, the point is its available, but you'll have to order it. my 2
day delivery took 6 days to get at the local cingular retail store.
first thing to do, is buy advanced call center, blackballer seemed to
let rings go thru. then get yahoo to go and salling clicker. awesome
    package!
