I have bought a 1Gb memory card for my 6280, but some of the files on the
original 64Mb card must be protected, is there any way of copying them
    across to my new card

Don't use the Nokia PC suite to copy the files, but use a card reader in
    your pc instead.

Just a wild idea but have you checked to see that the lock tab on the side
of the SD card is in the unlocked position?
