I am having trouble getting my homemade ring tone to work on my Nokia 6600.
I saved it as a mp3 & wav, loaded it onto the handset via PC Suite, gone
into my profile on the phone, highlighted the file (at this stage the demo
plays the file), I then select my profile and when the phone rings it plays
    the default ring.

    Any ideas please?

Also, when the mp3 file is loaded onto the phone the PC Suite converts it to
    a wav file - Why?

I think there is a limit in size in tone ring. I didn't get my 6600
working with tone size more then 10 kbytes or so (not hoebrew).
However, you cant use MP£, I think.

You should use a card reader to upload MP3's.
Anyway, whilst when you upload thing to yor fone via PC Suite, it converts
    or shrinks them.
But in file settings you can uncheck what files are converted.
I make my own trutones approx 30sec's long and they work fine. these are
..wav files as the 6600 only plays .wav, or .amr or .mid formats for
ringtones. you cant use MP3's as ringtones, though these's a freeware app
called "MP3 as Ringtone.sis" that is a , well not really a virus file, but a
nuisance file as it overwrites many app.exe files rendering them useless
