I have a Nokia 6682 that wil just turn its self off for no reason. This
is occuring even when the battery is fully charged. It will usually
happen at night when the phone sits idle for several hours. Is this a
known issue? Has this happened to anyone else?

Had exactly the same thing start to happen to my 6230.
I cleaned SIM and battery contacts and reset to factory defaults, but
nothing changed - except that I annoyed myself that I had to got and
re-personalise all my settings.
Eventually sent the phone to Nokia Care under warranty. They found no fault,
but upgraded the firmware. It's now v5.50 and hasn't played up since.

Re: Nokia 6682 Powers Off
Battery should be taken out immediately.
If the water was brackish or full salt water like the ocean - then I'd be
looking for another phone.... otherwise....
Completely dismantle the phone - take out main pcb and speakers and mic
element. (You'll have quite a few bits).
Housing can just be washed in the sink - don't have to be extremely careful
with it.
Main pcb should be flushed with FRESH water for quite a while - i would do
it for at least 15 mins.
Dry with a hair dryer - don't cook it, we're only wanting to dry it.
Leave sitting in a nice warm place for at least a few days to make sure all
water is evaporated - this is especially difficult from underneath BGA ic's,
so don't be tempted to turn it on to try it.
Check pcb thoroughly for signs of corrosion.
If you want to clean the pcb, use isopropyl alchohol (NOT the stuff from
grocery store like rubbing alcohol) - you'll have to get it from a chemist.
It's pure alcohol, no fragrances and other crap in it. You can use a soft
brush on the pcb with the alcohol to remove grimy bits.
You've got a 50/50 chance of it coming back to life.
Most of the time the processor gets fried or the RF front end.
cheers,
Craig.
