To my surprise, there doesn't appear to be any simple answer for my
daughter who wants a small form-factor, ideally flip phone, with MP3
Player (slot for mini-SD card) and can run on a GSM network (T-Mobile).
The Nokia 3300 is the wrong format, the Moto 710 is not GSM, and the
Nokia 6620 is not a flip.

Do I have other choices? Ideally a flipopen style, no PDA required,
small formfactor with an MP3 Player built-in.

    Am I missing something?

    Try Motorola V635.
    Takes Transflash (mini-SD) cards.
Quad band GSM, and has a half decend camera on board.

For Nokia models, go e.g. to
    http://europe.nokia.com/A4160001
and tick flip phones & MP3 player,
    then check from www.nokiausa.com
if your favourite is available there.

A quick look seems to suggest that your spec phones are available in Europe
but not (yet?) in the US?

Humm. Both of these replies yield a match, but curiously both matches
exist MOSTLY in Europe! I wonder why Europeans want their flipphones
with MP3 players, but Americans don't.... Curious.

Thanks All! I think I'll try the V635 since I can get it locally at a
    great price.

(I even had to learn the difference between Mini-SD and Micro-SD in the
    process!)

Yeh, miniSD and microSD - I never bothered to check if there was a
difference myself (probably because I have nothing that uses that format
card). None of my customers have ever asked me either.
Mistake in my last post too - Transflash is microSD if my research has been
    correct.
Not only do we have to worry about more types of cards, but we have to check
the voltages now to see if they'll work in mobile phones. I can't imagine
the trauma for Mr Joe Public to try and figure this out.

    Nokia 6131.
Stereo FM, media and mp3 player, camera for stills and movies, desent
memory, MicroSD slot, quad band GSM, flip phone with two screens (16 mil and
240k colors). Sounds to fit your bill, been kinda hard to get hold of though
    (at least here in Sweden).

    Re: MP3 Player and GSM?

Yeah, the 6131 is about $240 USD (a bit steep since few sellers have
it) here in the US on eBay (unlocked) and the 6126 variation of the
6131, has not been seen yet.

    Thanks,
