I have a Nokia 3220. I link it to my computer with a Nokia CA-42
cable. I occasionally try to back the phone up to the computer but
it's such a performance that I frequently give up. The problem is like
    this:
    1. I install a new version (or re-install an existing version) of
PC-Suite. Usually I uninstall any version I already have.
    2. I connect my phone at the appropriate point. All is well, I can
access, e.g., images on my phone. I can do a backup. Eventually I
    switch off my machine.
    3. On the next occasion when I attach my phone, I get the message on
my phone saying "Data enhancement connected" but PC Suite doesn't know
the phone exists. The computer (Hardware->Devices) has no problem with
the Nokia CA-42 USB Phone Parent, but the Nokia CA-42 GSM USB Modem
claims that it cannot load the drivers. The only solution is to go
    back to step 1.

Anybody got any ideas? Apologies if this has already been answered
many times but it didn't show up in the list of topics.
    Cheers
    Patricia

I have a 3200 and have been fussing for a few weeks with no luck at all
using a cheapo fake DKU-5 cable, and just ordered a CA-42, here are
    some suggestions I have read.

USB port driver update, apparently Microsoft and VIA have released
updated USB drivers for most motherboards.

Not a genuine OEM Nokia cable, but something "close" from china with a
driver that makes it act like a real Nokia cable. Driver updates from
    the cable maker may help.

Dirty contacts on the Nokia pop-port, cleaning with a toothbrush may
    help.

Nokia hates us, just use software from MobiMB or Oxygen.

Each time you plug in the USB cable it may be creating some port that
doesn't go away, check in the device manager and get rid of all the old
    ones.

USB port may have power issues, try a powered hub.

I have also heard that Bluetooth and IRDA may work better, but I don't
have Bluetooth on my phone, and IRDA hasn't worked yet.
