    Hi All--

I've been trying to find a way to circumvent Cingular's costly ringtone
downloads for my Nokia 6030, by investigating getting a cable. I found
    one here:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...25343271&categ...

My question: has anyone tried this with a Mac (power pc, 10.4.7)? Does
anyone know if OS X will just see the phone as an external drive, like
it does w/SD cards? I'm hoping this would be the case, since then it
would just be easy drag-and-drop into the appropriate folder on the
6030. If not, does anyone know if there are any Nokia drivers for OS X
that would make this work? Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks.

I got one of the cables, and have so far had no luck using it. Nothing
happens when I plug it in, it does not show up on the desktop, or in
iSync. I am trying to get it to sync my contacts. I am still working on
this, so I'll let you know if I find out anything more!

You should buy a mid-range or a high-end phone if you are after true USB
support and want to see the phone memory (normally the memory card on the
phone) as an external drive on your PC/Mac. For a low end phone like 6030
you would need specific PC SW like Nokia PCSuite (not sure if it supports
6030 as there should not be an official PC interface, and I think PCSuite is
not available for Mac). Some third party applications might support 6030.
