I have one of the Nokia 6310's which *usually* works extremely well -
    loathed to give it up.

Over the last couple of months hower it has increasingly gone from full
signal to no signal and then, f you reset the phone (jsut turn off/on) it
will either work again fine OR display "contact service" on the screen.

If it displays "contact service" , GENTLY tapping the phone on the palm of
your hand a few times and cycling the power again often brings it back.

It ACTS as though something is loose - because if it has a signal and the
phone is left alone, it will work for days at a time. Pick it up and it
might lose signal within a few seconds. Or it might not!

I have taken the case off and there seems to be nothing loose anywhere. I
have a local repair shop, but from what I gather the procedure is "nah mate,
    you need a new one".

Is it time to put the phone out to pasture or can anyone suggest what might
    cause this intermitent problem please?

    Kind Regards
    Mark
