I have a french Orange-provided N70 on which Orange has added a kind of
lateral 'launcher' overlay, a la macOSX, with tiny useless icons that
trigger various shortcuts. This overlay also imposes a smaller banner
where the time and signal details are definitely unreadable.
I found that by selecting tools, parameters, wait mode I can deactivate
this "orange welcome" thing: the N70 then warns me that it has to
restart, and indeed after restart the overlay has disappeared.
Until the next restart, that is. When I switch it off and later on, the
orange thing comes back.
This is so frustrating that for now I don't switch it off but just
choose a "disconnected mode", but this still uses power :-(
Is there a trick that would suppress this autostart thing definitely??
TIA!

Re: N70 : remove orange banner?
You could try reinstalling your firmware, you can donwload the tool
from http://www.nokia.com/A4176089
This *might* help.

Ah, good idea, I didn't remember this "software update" possibility.
As it requires a windows machine I have to think about it though (I have
a mac; this may mean I've to install the tools on a virtual pc machine
inside it...)
Thanks indeed!

Re: N70 : remove orange banner?
If it's any use, I tried this with my E61, but the banner remains?
I'll watch with interest to see if there are any other ideas.
